Once you’ve typedin allof therequiredinformation, SSLeaywill generate
a test certificate and place it in a file named httpsd.crt. You can use
httpsd.crt to test your secure server.
See section 3.6 on page 58 to install this test certificate and test your secure
web server.
3.5.2 Obtaining a Test Certificate from VeriSign
To request a test certificate from VeriSign, point your web browser to
https://digitalid.verisign.com/server/trial/index.html,
an informational page about test certificates. Follow these instructions:
1. Read through the information on the first page, entitled “Test Drive
a Secure Server ID.” When you are finished, click the Enroll Now
button in the bottom right corner.
2. Read through the information on the“Before You Start”page. You’ll
probably want to take a look at the VeriSign Trial Subscriber Agree-
ment. Click on Continue when you’re finished.
3. The next page, “Generate CSR,” shows you instructions on how to
generate a CSR. If you followed the instructions in section 3.4.2 on
page 51, you already have a CSR in your httpsd.csr file. If not,
createyour keyand CSRusing those instructions now. Then click on
Continue in the bottom right corner to continue.
4. The next page, “Submit CSR,” is shown in figure 3.1 on the next
page. On this page, you’ll actually need to do something. Copy the
